An online training course, entitled Le deuil : un outil pour le cartographier, is now available to anyone interested in learning more about this bereavement tool, which created by Isabelle Van Pevenage, institutional researcher at the CREGÉS.

A practical tool to help the bereaved

The aim of this tool is to identify people who are likely to experience more difficulties when a loved one dies, as well as the resources they can call on for better support.

The team developing the tool included the following people:

  • Claire Van Pevenage, clinical psychologist in the mobile palliative care team at the Hôpital Universitaire des Enfants Reine Fabiola in Brussels;
  • Isabelle Van Pevenage (Université de Montréal), institutional researcher at CREGÉS;
  • Pam Orzeck, associate professor at McGill University’s School of Social Work and CREGÉS collaborator;
  • Margaux Reiss, APPR at CREGÉS;
  • Cindy Strosberg, clinical psychologist at the Hôpital Universitaire des Enfants Reine Fabiola in Brussels;
  • Margaux Blamoutier, APPR at CIUSSS West-Central Montreal;
  • Patrick Durivage, coordinator of the Domain of Expertise in Palliative Care at CREGÉS;
  • Zelda Freitas, senior advisor, CIUSSS West-Central Montreal.

Comprehensive, free and flexible online training

Aimed at managers who would like to introduce the tool to their team, caregivers, volunteers, students and anyone else interested in bereavement, this free online training is available at any time.

During the training, participants will receive all the information they need to learn how to use the tool. They will be presented with examples and scenarios to illustrate concrete situations in which the tool can be used. A certificate will be issued at the end of the course.

This course was developed thanks to a collaboration between CREGÉS and the Centre de pédagogie universitaire (CPU) of the Université de Montréal. Les Formations sur le deuil et l’accompagnement of the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Arts and Science also provided consulting support.

The training is only available in French
