We are proud to announce an expansion to the training Réalités et besoins des personnes aînées LGBT, originally launched on May, 17, 2021 and developed by the team from the CREGÉS, in collaboration with the Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux (MSSS) and the formation continue partagée (FCP) of the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS, as part of the Plan d’action gouvernemental pour contrer la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées 2017-2022.
Several modules were created to meet the needs of older LGBT adults experiencing dementia, palliative care, and end of life.
These new modules, currently available in French only, are titled Réalités et besoins des personnes ainées LGBT : démence, soins palliatifs et fin de vie. They are aimed at helping personnel in the health and social services network to be more informed about the experiences of older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adults.
Those who follow the course will now learn more about the life stages of LGBT older adults, by means of video modules as well as a bilingual tip sheet.
The expansion is comprised of three new modules:
1. Réalités et besoins des personnes aînées LGBT qui vivent avec une forme de démence
2. Réalités et besoins des personnes aînées LGBT qui reçoivent des soins palliatifs
3. Réalités et besoins des personnes aînées LGBT qui sont en fin de vie
