Description:

After a 2017 Lancet Report, one third of dementia cases could be prevented when nine modifiable risk factors were taken care of. Different from previous uncertain messages regarding prevention – generally in form of ‘brain training’ – a new optimism is providing hope for what some call a future “avalanche of dementia cases”, but is equally problematic for a number of reasons. This conference discusses what is at stake regarding this ‘new’ dementia that needs to be situated at several levels.
